The experience begins with a morning departure from Quito in private transportation towards the northern Andes, on a journey of approximately three and a half hours through mountain landscapes and cloud forest.

Upon arrival at the lodge, located at 2,400 meters above sea level, the team is already in the field tracking bears, allowing the experience to begin immediately.

During the afternoon, there will be an introduction to the ecosystem, the behavior of the Andean bear, and the conservation dynamics of the area.

From the viewpoint, you will gain a first understanding of the canyon, and depending on conditions, you may take the first descent via the aerial tram to the bottom of the canyon, followed by a short walk to strategic observation points.

This first contact opens the possibility of your first encounters with bears in their natural environment.

This day is fully dedicated to fieldwork, guided by real-time tracking. From early in the morning, the team follows fresh signs and behavioral patterns, constantly adjusting the strategy based on weather conditions and animal activity.

While the search unfolds, the surroundings offer constant opportunities for birdwatching in the Andean cloud forest, including tanagers, hummingbirds, and flycatchers.

Once a bear is located in a favorable position, you will quietly descend into the canyon for close observation, typically ranging between 15 and 90 meters.

Encounters may be brief or extended, but they always occur naturally, without interference, offering unique opportunities for photography and observation.

The third day allows for a deeper experience, using what has been learned in previous days to improve the quality of encounters.

The team adjusts its approach based on observed patterns, increasing the chances of achieving closer and longer observations.

Beyond bear tracking, this day offers a deeper connection with the cloud forest ecosystem, including the interaction of bears with fruiting trees and the dynamics of coexistence with local communities.

It is common for this day to provide the best photographic opportunities and the most intimate wildlife moments.

The final morning is dedicated to a last tracking session, with the possibility of one final encounter with the Andean bear.

This moment is experienced with a deeper understanding of the environment and the species’ behavior, providing a more meaningful closure to the experience.

After lunch, the return to Quito begins, once again crossing the Andean landscapes with views of volcanoes and lakes.

The journey concludes not only with visual memories, but with a profound connection to nature.
